Course aim

The focus will be on the public space, and students will design and build a mobile green space for sitting, working, studying and playing (parklet) in order to furnish the indoor square of the converted INCET factory.

The Summer School will offer participants the opportunity to design and create and build a mobile green space for sitting, working, studying and playing in order to furnish the indoor square of the converted INCET factory. During the lessons students will be provided with tools and methodologies useful to work in the field. The lectures and contributors will address the concepts of public space, participatory design, landscape design and sustainable design.
Students will also be involved in a participatory design event during which they will have the opportunity to meet individuals who live and work close to INCET factory in order to make the indoor square and facilities as responsive as possible to their needs.
In the field research, design studio workshop and the realization phases, the participants will be constantly under supervision, mentored and assisted by members of Izmo. During the 3rd day (Friday), two design studio sessions will take place in which the students will define in a detailed manner the proposed intervention. The last five days will be dedicated to the realization and installation of the project.
Each student will have all the materials necessary to work at their disposal, which Izmo will provide.
At the end of the work process, the installations will be presented to the public during an opening party dedicated to the unveiling of the newly redefined space.
