Human Rights and Transitional Justice
The Human Rights and Transitional Justice Summer School offers a unique opportunity to learn from well-known and influential academics and practitioners in the field of human rights and transitional justice. The course also provides for plenty of opportunities to network with fellow students and practitioners from all over the world. And last but not least, The Hague is a wonderful place to stay!

Target group
This summer school is aimed at advanced students, researchers and professionals working in the field of human rights and transitional justice. Applicants with a background in other disciplines that are relevant to the theme of the summer school will be considered as well.
Course aim
For advanced law students and professionals | The Human Rights and Transitional Justice Summer School focuses on a different theme within the field of human rights and transitional justice each year. Past themes included Truth, Justice and Rule of Law Reform (2012), Human Rights Fact-Finding, Evidence and International Crimes (2013), Regional Responses to Conflict (2014), Justice, Reparations and Development (2015) and Rule of Law, Transitional Justice and Gender Politics (2016).
The course includes about 25 hours of workshops, lectures and case studies, which require approximately 28 hours of preparation.
Fee info
EUR 900: The tuition fee for the 2017 session is €900.
The deadline for application is 1 June 2017. Applicants will be admitted on a rolling basis. Early application is strongly advised.
EUR 750: We offer a special Early Bird fee of €750 to the participants who register before 1 April 2017. Leiden University students, students from partner universities, and participants who have registered for another Grotius Centre summer school also pay a reduced fee of €750.
