The purpose of this Summer school course is to introduce the foundations of Semantic Web technologies to a level of detail and depth, as Semantic Web is considered to be the next generation Web, this course will explain the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) as well as Extensible Markup Language (XML), then will detail the syntax and underlying intuition of the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and of its extension (RDF Schema). Both are fundamental technologies for representing (Meta) data on the Semantic Web, then will introduce the syntax and underlying intuition of the Web Ontology Language (OWL), deals with query languages for the Semantic Web. In particular, it contains an in-depth treatment of the (SPARQL) Protocol and RDF Query Language, finally you will learn how you can apply this technology through a simple application work.

Target group

Undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD students are also welcome to join, it is preferable to have basic knowledge in computer science and internet.

1. Teach you the foundations of the Semantic Web as it is a vision by academia.
2. Give you an idea how Semantic Web can change our future.
3. By the end of the course you will have a strong knowledge in (URI/XML, RDF/RDFS, SPARQL, and OWL).
